Mount Pleasant Primary School

Music

Curriculum Subject Lead - Mrs C Wilkinson

At  Mount Pleasant, we take pride in making music an enjoyable learning adventure. All our children are encouraged to participate in a variety of musical experiences aimed at advancing their musical skills as well as building self-confidence, resilience and a sense of achievement, which ultimately will develop their love of music.

Through a shared joy of music, new relationships are formed and talents are developed – skills which will continue throughout school life and beyond.

It is our aim that all children are given as much scope as possible to express themselves through music. Singing, instrumental lessons, after school opportunities and classroom lessons all contribute towards the rich music curriculum that we offer at Mount Pleasant.

  • understand and explore how music is created, produced and communicated, including through the inter-related dimensions: pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure and appropriate musical notations.
